Nonetheless, a few pieces of new content have arrived - a couple more research projects have been written up, some new terrain tiles have been added and more destruction states set up on existing tiles, various corpse art for the aliens has been done, and a little bit of new UI art has arrived. There haven't been too many new features added this month, unfortunately: the coders have been busy fixing bugs and Chris has been off for a couple of weeks on paternity leave, so there's not been too much time. It's very encouraging to see that people are already able to spend 5+ hours playing a campaign, when we as developers know we've still got a lot of improvements left to make. A couple of the late-game UFOs had broken teleporters that meant you couldn't actually complete those missions, for example. Part of the reason that we released so many hotfixes for V22 was that many of our testers have been playing much further through their campaigns than previously, so they're encountering bugs in areas of the game towards the end that haven't yet been tested (or balanced) properly. The reception to the V22 Experimental builds overall has been very positive, both in terms of comments and the pattern of play that we're seeing from users.
Xenonauts 2 homepage update#
This is the first major update on our main branches since March (apologies for that) and we think anyone who hasn't been playing on the Experimental branches is in for quite a treat given how much the game has changed since then. This has involved a total of 6 hotfixes, which might be a record for us!Īnyway, V22 is now out. This month we've mostly been working on turning the experimental builds of V22 into something ready to be released on our main Steam / GOG branches. It does not store any personal data.As November draws to a close it's once again time for our monthly update. We want to be surprised again by our opponents, and give the team a challenge – the soldiers in XCOM 2 weren’t fun, and the roided up Sectoids weren’t any more entertaining. This could be achieved by basing XCOM 3 on Terror From The Deep. As the enemy set is becoming predictable, we mean a complete overhaul. This should be obvious, but it’s not the same as XCOM 2, which provided more enemy types. However, the ending of XCOM 2 suggests that XCOM 3 will be Terror From The Deep – it even references the original game’s hand-reaching-out cover (see image above). Julian Gollop, the Phoenix Point creator of X-Com, is still exploring these ideas. It also featured battles in underwater environments and bases, which made for some fascinating encounters.

The original game is loved for being more tense than the first X-Com. Terror From The Deep is the sequel to X-Com. This is part of the charm and appeal of XCOM. However, we love watching the invasion build from a few flying saucers or Men In Black. We appreciate Firaxis’s efforts to make XCOM an underground resistance force to a successful invasion. Similar titles such as Xenonauts also do well. This is why XCOM/Enemy Unknown, and X-Com/UFO Defense/UFO Unknown are the most loved games in the series. People think of XCOM as a secret organization fighting alien invasions. But what can we expect from it? The classic ‘Invasion Angle’ What can we expect from the next-XCOM game ? The final DLC expansion has been released so XCOM 3 may be on its way. We’re already looking forward XCOM 3 which is definitely in development at Firaxis. XCOM 2 was a difficult but very enjoyable entry in the series. Comments XCOM 3: ALL THE THINGS WE WANT TO SEE
